August 26th, 2011

SEOHere are the best reads this week in Search Engine Optimization that you may have missed, and are highly recommended from PRWeb!

5) Know Your Customer – Know Their Keywords (Search Engine Journal)
Do you ever wonder why some traffic makes you money and other traffic doesn’t? The answer is so obvious that it’s a proverb: Not all traffic is created equal.

4)  PageRank Down? WordPress Plugin Checks for Broken Links (growmap)
Bloggers are noticing changes in their Google PageRank starting yesterday. Those whose PageRank dropped may want to check their sites for broken links. There is an easy way to do that using a popular WordPress plugin: Broken Link Checker for WordPress. This plugin finds and lets you repair broken links and it does much more.

3) Google Intros the +1 Button Payoff (Duct Tape Marketing)
Now, when someone finds some content that they want to +1 they will have to option to share the content directly to Google Plus and whatever circles they choose just by hovering over the +1 button. This makes the +1 button on par with the Facebook Send and LinkedIn InShare buttons in terms of potential exposure the +1d content can receive.

2) [VIDEO] Article Marketing: Mostly a Scam (SEOmoz)
Article marketing is mostly a scam. Well, wait… some types of article marketing are really scammy. Guest blogging, legitimate article sharing, and similar tactics are great and sustainable linkbuilding practices, but making up terrible article content and passing it off as something people should read or link to is both bad for users and bad for long-term SEO.

1) How Does Your Link Profile Work? (SEO 101)
Have you looked at your own link profile recently? It’s easy to get bogged down with the daily grind of accumulating links. This can mean, however, that you neglect to review your efforts on a regular basis. Sure, you may know that you’ve obtained a certain number of links and you may have a vague idea of the anchor text that’s been used in those links, but have you thought deeply enough about the way that it all looks to the search engines?
